11/8/2005 - Commitment & Leadership: AFS Brazil’s General Assembly
The city of Salvador da Bahia was the setting for AFS Brazil’s 34th General Assembly last week.
The Convention’s theme was “Commitment & Leadership” and it provided an opportunity for the volunteers from AFS Brazil to meet old friends and make new ones, learn about the plans for AFS Brazil’s 50th anniversary celebration next year, see the results of AFS Brazil’s activities in 2004-2005 and learn about the profile of AFS Brazil’s volunteers. The volunteer profile was obtained using the results of AFS Brazil last volunteer census. Participants also had an opportunity to think about a common concept for intercultural learning and to vote on a new policy for volunteers.
Our intern from Germany, Matthias Meister, who is helping the Volunteer Development Department was also present and enjoyed the opportunity to meet volunteers from every part of the country, and get to know a bit more of Brazil. The General Assembly attracted more than 125 participants, among them, Ronaldo Veirano from the AFS International Board of Trustees, AFS International’s President, Tachi Cazal and AFS International’s Business Consultant, Fabricia Manoel, Valentina Koifmann from AFS Argentina and Oscar Chamorro from AFS Paraguay.
